The Chief Medical Director of Greyhub Therapeutic, Dr Sola Olowookere, has attributed the increase in mental health challenges to poor policy formulation and funding, which according to him calls for serious concern. He made the call during the opening ceremony of Greyhub therapeutic Centre in Ikeja, last week.

He noted that the world is changing rapidly and people are going through a lot in life which necessitates setting up a place where people can access medical assistance, stressing that any sign of addiction or depression calls for help.

According to him, “There has been an increase in the usage of illicit substances as well as mental illnesses such as addiction, depression and suicide that needs urgent intervention.” He said it was the need for this that led to the establishment of the centre so that people can have access to latest psychological intervention in form of counselling and treatment in a serene environment at an affordable price.

Similarly, Dr Kunle Oladehin, applauded the efforts of the Chief Medical Director, for setting up the facility which he compares with what is obtainable overseas, adding that stigmatization is making people shy away from seeking help.

He observed that “We need to raise more awareness so that people can stop stigmatizing people who are having mental health issues so that they can get help from a place like this. I am pleased with what he has put in place which is a home-away-from-home facility.’’

The centre is devoted to taking care of people and helping them overcome stress and other cares.
