Hushpuppi Alleges Bribing DCP Abba Kyari To Arrest Rivals In $1.1m Scam

The embattled Nigerian socialite, Hushpuppi says he gave a deputy commissioner of police, Abba Kyari  a bribe to arrest one of his co-fraudster rivals in $1.1 scam, according to US Court documents.

The Instagram celebrity, who is for showing off his luxury lifestyle on Instagram was arrested in UAE in June 2020 alongside 11 of his associates over allegations bordering on hacking, impersonation, scamming, banking fraud, and identity theft.

He was extradited to the US by the UAE police in a special operation dubbed “Fox Hunt 2” where he was accused of defrauding 1.9 million victims to the tune of N168 billion.

Hushpuppi was thereafter arraigned and detained at the Metropolitan Correctional Center (MCC) in Chicago ahead of his trial.

According to US court documents, Hushpuppi had alleged that he bribed Kyari to arrest Vincent, a co-fraudster.

Court officials said during interrogation, the Instagram celebrity disclosed that he gave the DCP money to arrest and jail “one of his rivals in Nigeria after a dispute over a $1.1 million scam on Qatari businesspeople”.
