Three Killed, 25 Injured As Gas Tanker Explodes In Lagos

No fewer than three people have bee killed in a gas tanker explosion in Ikeja arear of Lago State.

The incident  which occurred along Mobolaji Bank –  Anthony Way around 10. 20pm on Thursday was said to have been caused as aresult of leakage while on motion inward Ikeja.

It was gathered that 13 persons- four women  and  nine men  sustained varying degrees of burns have been moved to the LASUTH  while four  people  who are in critical condition  were taken to Trauma and Burns Centre at the General Hospital, Gbagada.

This also left some people wounded with four of them taken to the Trauma and Burns Centre at the General Hospital, Gbagada.Giving update on the incident on  Friday morning , the spokesperson for the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), Ibrahim Farinloye, confirmed that three people are alraed confirmed dead.

“The latest is that we just recovered three dead bodies this morning, which was beyond our expectation

“Yesterday, we made a headcount and management officials of the plaza were around, officials of all the organisations using the plaza were around; only one boy was claimed to be missing and unfortunately, we could not trace the boy yesterday night.

“Unfortunately, when we got there this morning, we saw three dead – one Mr Balogun who was the manager of the Chinese restaurant. He was recovered with two other personnel of the restaurant.”

It was also gathered that the Commissioner of Police( CP) Hakeem Odumosu was at the scene of the incdient and took charge f the crowd control in a bid to restore normalcy int he area.

“Recovery effort will continue this morning. Thirteen people sustained injury – four women and nine men. 25 vehicles were destroyed completely.

“The police personnel were left behind to take care of the whole situation. The whole situation is under control,” he said.
