An unconfirmed number of persons have been abducted by bandits in Jibiya, Katsina state.
The worshippers were said to have gathered at a mosque to observe Tahajjud , a midnight prayer carried out majorly in the last 10 day of Ramadan when the bandits struck.
According to sources the worshippers were kidnapped around 2am on Monday.
Some of the residents said they had earlier alerted about possible attack after sighting movement if suspected bandits around the area.
It was gathered that the youth and vigilante groups in the town had prepared to engage the bandits in the event of an attack. However, the bandits used another different route to gain entry into the town
The Police spokesperson in the state, Gambo Isah said some of the persons adbucted have escaped.
