The husband of Queen Elizabeth, Prince Philip is dead.
Buckingham Palace announced his death on Friday.
The statement containing the details of his death was posted on the Royal Family’s Twitter page.
“It is with deep sorrow that Her Majesty The Queen has announced the death of her beloved husband, His Royal Highness The Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh,” the statement read.
“His Royal Highness passed away peacefully this morning at Windsor Castle.
“The Royal Family join with people around the world in mourning his loss.
“Further announcements will be made in due course.”

The Duke of Edinburgh, who has been married to Queen Elizabeth for 73 years, stepped back from public engagements in 2017.
Prince Philip had four children with Queen Elizabeth: Charles , Prince of Wales; Anne, Princess Royal; Prince Andrew , Duke of York, and Prince Edward, Earl of Wessex.
He died at the age of 99.
