Lagos Receives Doses of COVID-19 Vaccines

The Lagos state government says it has received doses of the Oxford-AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccines from the federal government.

Governor Babajdie Sanwo-Olu made this known on Tuesday in an event which was organized by the Ministry of Women Affairs and Poverty Alleviation to commemorate the 2021 International Women’s Day in Ikeja.

Sanwo -Olu said the state government received the vaccines at 4am on Tuesday , but did not disclose the figure, noting that the vaccines have been kept in a safe place.

He assured the people of the state that the government would soon commence the vaccination exercise.

The governor stated that the exercise would be carried out in line with the scheduled guidelines laid down by the National Primary Health Care Development Agency(NPHCDA).

Sanwo implored residents to continue to keep to all the COVID-19 protocols such as wearing of facemasks, washing and sanitizing their hands, and observing social distance.

Last week, Nigeria took delivery of about four million doses of the Oxford-AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccines as part of the 16million doses planned to be delivered to the country.
