The federal government has received the first batch of AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccines

JUST IN: The first batch of AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccines has arrived Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja.

The total vaccines received is 3.9m doses. The federal government said the vaccines will be rolled out in phases and the following will get vaccinated first.
: 1/ Frontline health workers & strategic leadership
2/ 50 & above (60 & above, then 50-59 – with priority of course for people with co-morbidities)
3/ 18-49 with co-morbidities
4/ Rest of eligible population (i.e. 18-49 without co-morbidities).
In February, The National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) approved the AztraZeneca vaccine for use in Nigeria.
As at Tuesday, Nigeria has 156,017 confirmed cases and recorded 1, 915 deaths.
