Nigeria’s former Chief of Air Staff, Nsikak Eduok, is dead. The late Air Marshall who died on Wednesday was 73. He died in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State, according to a source close to the family.

He enlisted into the Nigeria Air Force in 1968 and became the 12th Chief of Air Staff on August 27, 1993. However, his appointment was reversed a week later by the then military government.

On March 30, 1996, he was reappointed Chief of Air Staff by General Sani Abacha.

He later retired from the Nigerian military in 1999. He was reputed to be one of the best trained combat pilots the Nigerian Air Force has produced.
