Veteran NigerianĀ comedian, Atunyota Akpobome, popularly known as Ali Baba says anyone who claims COVID-19 is a scam is a compound idiot and a fool
The comedian revealed in a video he shared on his Instagram page on Monday that he contracted the novel disease and spent the whole of Christmas and New Year in Yaba isolation centre in Lagos.
Ali Baba said that many people died while during his time at the isolation centre and urged Nigerians to adhere to the COVID-19 guidelines put in place by the federal and states governments.
He said it is important people observe necessary precautions as the second wave of the virus is deadlier than the first
āThe second wave of COVID-19 is deadlier than the one before. People are dying ā pastors, doctors, professors, billionaires, poor men, less privilegedā¦ people are dying everyday. Those numbers you see are not fakeā he said.
āI have spoken with people who attended parties and died two days later. COVID-19 is real, donāt let anyone deceive you. Anyone who tells you COVID-19 is scam, donāt trust the person.ā

In a terse accompanying post, the comedian wrote: āDonāt let anyone tell you itās a scam. I just came out of isolation. Several people died while I was there. Some of my close friends knew and they were very supportive.
āCOVID is real. Observe all the protocols. People are dying. And itās not a joke. In fact, anyone who says COVID is a scam is a compound idiot and a fool.ā
