A leader of the All Progressives Congress, (APC) in Ekiti State, Chief Segun Ajibulu, has condemned the shoddy handling of the #EndSARS protests that engulfed Nigeria in past weeks and called on government to embark on equitable restructuring of the country.

Ajibulu who spoke from his base in America, said the mismanagement of the protest which led to “needless loss of lives and property would have been nipped in the bud with careful and painstaking response from the federal government at the twilight of the crisis.”

He attributed the escalation of the crisis, particularly in the south west to the long delay by government in paying the necessary and timely attention that the situation demanded.

Ajibulu who expressed sadness over the wanton destruction of the economy, in investments and monuments in the south west, said the vandalisation of personal and government property in the region, smirks of predetermined political motives.

He noted with regrets the plundering of APC Leader, Asiwaju Ahmed Tinubu’s businesses, saying that the manner the attacks were carried out suggest some hidden hands of political rivals, plotting to whittle down his towering political profile.

“It is sad that the Nigeria Broadcasting Commission is now coming out to sanction 3 television stations that circulated ‘unverified’ clips about the purported Lekki massacre after a huge loss on the part of Lagosians and government. I think the escalation of the crises would have been curtailed with a quick, timely, response from the federal government at record time.

“It is sad that Asiwaju Tinubu is marked as target in the needless crises. The burning down of his business empire by people on whose side he decided to pitch his tent and fight over years, is disheartening and barbaric. Tinubu rose to political crisis through struggle. It is against logical reasoning to think a man of such political background, would order the shooting of armless protesters by acclaimed soldiers.

“I think the federal government will be acting right by digging into the roots of the crisis to fish out all perpetrators in the recent needless carnage in the south west while adequate compensation be paid Asiwaju Tinubu, a man who gave his all for the enthronement of the current government,” Ajibulu said.

While urging the youth in the country to be more focused in their agitations and disallow infiltrations in their consequent struggles, he called on the federal government to step up action in righting the societal wrongs in the country through a conscious reordering that will give equal chance to the various ethnic nationalities in the country.

Ajibulu reiterated his believe in a restructuring of the country that would give unfettered opportunities to every ethnic nationalities to maximise their potentials in healthy, developmental competitions
