Incumbent Governor of Edo State and candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Godwin Obaseki has emerged winner of the Saturday, September 19, governorship election in the state.
Announcing the results, INEC’s Returning Officer for the election, Prof. Akpofure Rem-Rukeh, the vice-chancellor of University of Petroleum Resources, Effuru said Mr. Obaseki polled 307,955 votes to defeat his closest rival Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu of All Progressive Congress(APC) who polled 223, 619 votes
With this result, Obaseki has been re-elected into office for another four years.
