There is growing controversy over the health of president Muhammadu Buhari’s nephew, Mamman Daura, who travelled to the United Kingdom on Wednesday.
The media had reported that he travelled abroad for medical check up linked to inability to breathe well and under suspicion of having coronavirus. However, a source which confirmed that he travelled said he is “in good health.”
He was said to have breathing difficulties “consistent with COVID-19” and was flown to UK for treatment.
Daura who was at the burial of Wada Maida, former MD of the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), did not shown any signs of illness.
According to a source, “It is true he travelled to the UK on Wednesday. Every other thing is imagined, just to give the story some sensation. He is in good health.”
Another source added, “It is impossible that a man, who is over 80, would have breathing problems on Friday and the family would wait for five days before flying him abroad in an emergency. A man having breathing problems on Friday would not attend a public funeral on Tuesday.”
In denouncing the rumour that his travelled might have been linked to coronavirus, the source asked which country would allow such a patient enter its territory at this time.
