Afeez Fashola, a singer better known as Naira Marley and his manager, Seyi Awouga have been arraigned by Lagos police command for violation interstate travl ban during the COVID -19 travel restrictions.
This is not the first time the singer has been entangled in a controversy, he was also indicted when he attended the birthday party of music producer, Abdul Rasheed Bello, known as JJC Skillz in April. JJC Skills is the husband of Yoruba actress, Funke Akindele.
According to a statement released by the Lagos Police spokesman, Bala Elkana , Naira Marley and his manager were arraigned on a one count charge at the Lagos State Special Offences (Mobile) Court, Oshodi around 3.30pm.
“The soapy crooner is arraigned alongside his Manager Seyi Awouga ‘f’ on one count charge of breach of cessation of movement and interstates travel order made by the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria under Regulation 4(i) of the Lagos State Infectious Disease Emergency Prevention) Regulation No 2 of 2020 and committed an offence punishable under Section 58 Public Health Law, Ch. P16, Laws of Lagos State 2015,” he said.
The singer had on June 13 left Lagos for Abuja to perform in a concert in flagrant disregard for the travel restrictions put in place the government .
The two accused person pleaded guilty to the charge and were fined a fine of One Hundred Thousand Naira(N100,000) each by the magistrate.
