A detachment of Edo Police Command has taken over the house of assembly complex.

The detachment was led by Ayoola Ajala, a deputy commissioner of police. Officials of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) were also deployed to the complex.

It was learnt that the police took the action to forestall any attack on assembly. This is coming after the impeachment of Yekini Idiaye, as deputy.

Idiaye and four other lawmakers had endorsed Osagie Ize-Iyamu, the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate in the state. The former deputy speaker in pitching his tent with Ize-Iyamu of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) had accused Godwin Obaseki, Edo governor, of nothing in his village.

He said“I am from Somorika, in Akoko Edo local government area and my village is the most backward in Akoko Edo.”

The police were said to be deployed to forestall crisis in the assembly.
