Breaking: Akpata Opens Huge Lead in NBA Poll

Olumide Akpata, the only non-SAN and outsider in the race for the President of the Nigerian Bar Association, NBA, has opened a huge lead in the election and is on the verge of dealing a huge blow to the establishment at the Bar and their favourite candidates.

If the results hold, it will be the first time in over three decades that the president of the NBA will be emerging from outside the rank of senior advocates.

As at 3.30pm Thursday, Akpata had polled 8409 votes which is about 53.8 per cent of the vote cast.

Babatunde Ajibade, a Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN) had polled 3729 votes while Julius Adesina had 3478 votes.
