Ondo SSG resigns

Two weeks after the Ondo State deputy governor dumped the All Progressives Congress (APC) for the Peoples Democratic Party, (PDP), the secretary to the State government, Ifedayo Abegunde, has resigned his appointment.

In a brief letter dated July 6, Abegunde thanked the governor, Rotimi Akeredolu, for giving him the opportunity to serve. Although he did not give reason for his resignation, there are speculations that he is going to join the former deputy governor.

He wished the governor, a quick recovery. Akeredolu is currently Undergoing treatment for coronavirus.

Abegunde in his letter wrote: “I, Ifedayo Sunday Abegunde, the Secretary to the State Government of Ondo State, hereby tender my letter of resignation.

“I want to thank Mr. Governor for giving me the opportunity to serve the Government and people of Ondo State.

“Again, my family and I wish Mr. Governor quick recovery.”

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has fixed October 10 for the Ondo election. This is amid crisis rocking the Ondo chapter of the APC as the governor has indicated interest in running for a second term.
