The family of former governor of Oyo State, Senator Abiola Ajimobi have announced a shift in the burial date of the former governor.
Ajimobi died on Thursday, June 25 at a private hospital in Lagos. As a Muslim he was expected to be buried on Friday since he died after sunset on Thursday.
However, his spokesman, Bolaji Tunji, told reporters in his Oluyole, Ibadan residence on Friday morning that the family would make an announcement of the burial programme.
He said: “The funeral arrangements will be announced soon by the family but it will be observed privately so as to be in accordance with the Nigerian Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) guidelines.”
He appealed to sympathisers, who have been thronging his residence, to continue following NCDC guidelines by washing their hands, using face masks and keeping social distancing, among others.
Also, Lagos State Commissioner of Health, Prof Akin Abayomi, has confirmed that the former governor died of multiple organ failure following complications from COVID-19.
He confirmed this on his Twitter handle.
