The Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN) has debunked the rumors that the movie veteran Olu Jacobs is dead.

The Guild confirmed that Jacobs is “alive, very hale and hearty.

On Tuesday, there was a rumor that the movie star had passed on after battling protracted illness.

But in a statement issued by the guild national PRO, Monalisa Chinda Coker on Wednesday said the rumor of the movie veteran’s death is the workings of mischief makers and enemies of the industry.

Coker said the guild has been in contact with Jacobs and his family.

“This is to inform the general public that our legendary actor, Olu Jacobs is alive, very hale, and hearty. Disregard the malicious rumor about his death making rounds,” the statement read.

“The National President of the Actors Guild of Nigeria is in touch with the family. We use this medium to warn mischief makers and enemies of our industry to desist from this wickedness.”

Lala Akindoju, a Nollywood actress, had earlier dismissed the rumours.

“Uncle Olu Jacobs is alive and well. Very much so. I just got off the phone with him. Please stop spreading fake news,” she tweeted.

The rumours came days after Joke Silva, the veteran actor’s wife, had dismissed claims that they endorsed an unidentified drug for the treatment of diabetes.

“Olu Jacobs and I have NOT endorsed any medication to treat diabetes. If and when we do, the public will be informed in advance on our platforms and it will be audiovisual,” she had stated.
