Special Assistant on Digital Media to Gov. Seyi Makinde, Mr Muritala Olajide Adigun, has been sacked after he sugar-coated his principal’s projects on coronavirus fight.
Olajide had pushed a false narrative on his Facebook account about some disinfecting machines bought by the Lagos State government of Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu.
He posted the picture of the machines accompany by a text in which he falsely proclaimed Makinde procured it and went to say Oyo State was battle ready for the scourge.
The post drew him and the governor backlash as many commentators pointed out the mendacity in Adigun’s claim.
The disgraced aide’s defence that his account was compromised by alleged members of the All Progressives Congress, APC, did not save him from losing his job on Friday on the premise of feeding the public with misleading information, according to his termination letter issued by the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Mrs Olubamiwo Adeosun.
It reads in part: “I wish to convey the approval of His Excellency, Governor Seyi Makinde, on the termination of your appointment as Special Assistant (Digital Media), with immediate effect.”
