Security operatives have unsealed the national secretariat of the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, and allowed the Deputy National Secretary of the party, Mr. Victor Giadom, who is the highest ranking official, to take full control of affairs of the party.
Security operatives had a list containing names of party officials, staffers and journalists to be granted access into the secretariat and Mr. Giadom, who is acting as the party’s national secretary, was number one. The officials, staffers and accredited journalists were given newly designed identity cards and access tags.
However, embattled national chairman Adams Oshiomhole and the “three new party officials” (Senator Abiola Ajimobi, deputy national chairman, South; Mr. Waziri Bulama, Acting National Secretary and Mr. Paul Chukwuma, National Auditor), whose appointments he hurriedly announced last week after a court suspended him from office were missing from the list. They did not make it to the secretariat Monday.
With the latest development it is clear that Oshiomhole and his aides are not returning to the party’s secretariat, a senior official said: “He has been effectively shutout. He is gone for good.”
Giadom came into the secretariat around 10:45am in the company of some officials.
It will be recalled that Mr. Giadom had announced on Sunday that he had control of party affairs in the interim pending when an acting national chairman is approved by the emergency meeting of the National Executive Committee, NEC, of the party, which has been slated for March 17, 2020.
He maintained that Oshiomhole remained suspended as ordered by the FCT High Court.
