The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has hinted that a top gun in the last administration in Kwara, defrauded the state of N370m but withheld the identity of the heist’s perpetrator.

The anti-graft agency zonal head in Ilorin, Mr Isyaku Sharu, dropped the hint on Thursday in the state capital during a walk to commemorate 3rd African Union, AU Anti-Corruption Day rally with the theme: “Towards a Common African Position on Asset Recovery.”

Sharu, who noted with concern the pervasiveness of corruption in Nigeria, saying it was responsible for the hydra headed  problems confronting the country, touched on how a famous Kwara politician ostensibly one of the top gun in the last administration of ex-governor Abdulfatah Ahmed made away with N370m belonging to the state.

He however withheld the identity of the suspect but revealed how the loot was expended saying, “In Ilorin zone we are also tracking M370M that was converted to pounds and found it’s way to UK for a particular property of one highly placed politically exposed person.Very soon you will hear from us,” Sharu told the gathering including newsmen, members of the National Youth Service Corps.
