Protesters converged today on NNPC filling station at Guzape to show their discontentment over rape allegations levelled against the Founder and Global Senior Pastor of the Commonwealth of Zion Assembly, Biodun Fatoyinbo.
The placard wielding protesters have signified their intention to besiege the church today to protest what they called the ‘ungodly act’ of the Paster and urged other concerned Nigerians to join them
Some of the placards held by the protesters read ‘We are watching you,’ ‘Your Pastor is not your God,’ ‘Thou shall not rape’ and ‘No to sexual abuse in my church’ among others with the hashtag ‘#ChurchToo.’
The protesters, including one of the leaders of the Bring Back Our Girls movement, Aisha Yesufu, could be seen wearing white in solidarity with victims of rape.
The protest was a response to allegations of rape against Fatoyinbo by Busola Dakolo, photographer and wife of inspirational singer, Timi Dakolo.
Fatoyinbo had got inkling of a serious trouble following allegation of rape levelled against him by Busola Dakolo, wife of Nigeria’s sensational soul singer, Timi Dakolo.
Some protesters under the aegis of #ChurchTooMovement# have vowed to storm the church in Abuja.
The notice to storm the church was widely circulated on social media.
“If you are outraged by the alleged sexual abuses perpetrated by pastors and so-called ‘men of God’, join us for protest March to COZA church. Meeting point: NNPC filling station, Guzape. Sunday June 30, 2019 8:00 am. Dress code: White top,” it read.
