US Suspends Visa Interview Waivers in Nigeria

The United States embassy in Nigeria has suspended drop box service or interview waiver for those renewing visas in the country.

In a public notice seen by Nigerian Current on Tuesday, the embassy said it has suspended the interview waiver effectively from May 14, 2019..

“The Embassy and Consulate of the United States in Nigeria has suspended the interview waiver ‘Drop Box’ application process effective May 14, 2019,” the statement read.

“All applicants are required to schedule regular appointments until further notice.

The notice also asked those that might have applied for Interview Waiver (DropBox) and are unable to schedule with their MRV receipt number, should contact the embassy by email at support-nigeria@ustraveldocs.com and attach a copy of their MRV receipt and passport data page.

Before now, it was possible for Nigerians who were renewing their existing or expired visa to apply for a renewal online without a physical interview.
