The Governor of Ekiti State, Dr Kayode Fayemi has declared himself lucky to have Erelu Bisi Fayemi as a wife.

Answering questions on the programme, “Governor Explains,” the governor said his wife deserved whatever honour bestowed on him on her leadership role in Ekiti and in Africa as a whole saying it was on merit and that he was only lucky to have her as his wife.

“She is qualified to be a governor not because she is my wife. So, people should stop relegating women to the background in the land of Moremi, Amina etc.” Fayemi said.

Speaking on those teachers employed in the wee hours of Mr Ayo Fayose, the governor said whosoever was employed properly with his or her name registered in the biometric had no problem. About others who had issues on their employment, Fayemi said “a panel has been set up headed by the Deputy Governor to look into it and after the panel’s report, the needful will be done”.

Fayemi also promised to renew effort on the insurance scheme for journalists in the State. He assured that now that there was Commissioner for Information, journalists’ insurance scheme will be completed having started it in his first term. “My CPS then is still the same person, so there will be an institutional update on it and we shall take it up from there” he said.

On the issue of contract staff in government service, Fayemi said proper staff auditing would have to be done and that for the mere fact that someone was a contract staff would not be sufficient to get automatic employment. He said others who were not contract staff should also be allowed to seek the same job with those on contract employment.
