The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria FAAN has wielded the big stick against debtor state governors tapping the services of the agency without payment
Sequel to this, FAAN has closed down the Gombe and Kebbi airports with effect from today, due to over N800 million debts owed it.
The agency had yesterday in a Notice To Air Men NOTAM, sent to the airports announced the withdrawal of safety, fire rescue and aviation security personnel services attached to the two airports.
FAAN two weeks ago warned that its services would be withdrawn if the two state government failed to clear their debts.
It was gathered that ample time to settle the debts were given the states but they failed to pay up the debt
FAAN debt recovery drive, we learnt would be in phases and would be shifted to other debtor airports
