Again, Insurgents Kill 26 in Adamawa

The Boko Haram insurgents have attacked Kudakaya, a village in Madagali LGA of Adamawa State, and killed 26 people.
Madagali is in northern Adamawa LGA and not far from the Boko Haram enclave of Sambisa Forest in Borno State where the insurgents who launched the fresh attack on Madagali were said to have come from.
It was gathered that the insurgents stormed Kudakaya village in large numbers on motorbikes around 7pm on Monday, shooting wildly and inflicting deadly injuries on helpless villagers.
“Many fell victim to the attack. I saw corpses of 26 people and there are several others that were critically injured and taken to hospital,” said a vigilante member who objected to being named.
A former chairman of the Madagali LGA, Abawu Ularamu, who corroborated the vigilante member’s account, said, “The Boko Haram elements burnt several shops and many homes. They stole food items. As I am talking to you now, we are living in an atmosphere of despair and agony for this attack. Over 20 people were killed.
‘’There is no doubt the attackers came from Sambisa. We experience such periodic attacks from Boko Haram, who usually look for food. They are not far from us. Any slight opportunity, they may strike again.”
Boko Haram insurgents have been frequent visitors to Madagali, and to a lesser extent, the neighbouring Michika LGA, in recent months. The last general elections were held in only three towns in the entire Madagali LGA on account of the violent attacks of the sect.
Confirming the fresh attack but not specifying the the number of those who died, the Adamawa State Police Public Relations Officer, Othman Abubakar, said, “Yes, I was briefed that members of the dreaded Boko Haram insurgents have attacked the village. I am yet to get the casualty figure but security operatives were deployed and are on the top of the situation
