Son Sells Hunchback Mother to Ritualists for N7million

Following the abduction of a 60 year old woman ,Mrs Rukayat Abodunde, by some suspected ritualists who invaded her home in Ayetoro street, Ondo town, headquarters of Ondo West Local Government Area of Ondo State, men of the Ondo state Police command are now working round the clock to unravel the mysterious abduction and killing as the gunmen reappeared few days after demanding for the refund of N7m from his son.
The State Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) Femi Joseph, who confirmed the abduction of the woman said two suspected kidnappers invaded the home of the victim and whisked her away.
He said “the incident was reported at the police station by one Omotola Oseyemi, while the police swung into action to ensure the release of the abducted woman.
“We interrogated the people in the area but it was unfortunate that members of the family are not showing enough interest in the disappearance of the woman. Some family members visited the station to notify the police they are no longer interested in case but will like to handle it in traditional way”.
Apart from the suspected ritualists, the police are also looking for the son of the abducted woman who was said to have conspired with the ritualists and sold her mother to them for rituals.
Family source said the hunchback woman who sells fish beside her house was abducted by two gunmen who pretended to have come to buy fish from the hunchback woman around 10pm.
He said the two men started shooting sporadically into the air to scare away people and dragged the landlady, Abodunde into a waiting vehicle.
The source explained that the incident was reported at the police station in Ondo, while men from the command visited the house to investigate the incident.
The kidnappers were said to have discovered that the hunch was not a natural one but said the hunchback was caused as a result of domestic accident, and called for the refund of the N7m from the deceased son.
He source said the ritualists who discovered that the hunchback was not useful to them after killing the woman, threatened to kill the young man if he failed to refund the money.
However, the boy insisted that the ritualists must also return his mother alive before the money could be refunded and ran away from the house since then.
According to the source, the young man had used part of the money to buy clothes for the late mother before her abduction while he also used part of the money to renovate an repaint the house before the incident.
The PPRO, Joseph however said the police are still investigating the incident with a promise to unravel those behind the crime.
