A man, Ugochukwu Mbadi, has been shot dead few weeks to his wedding, by suspected hired killers in a beer parlour located at number 8 Uwakwe Street in Aba, the commercial hub of the State on Saturday evening
The Police Command Public Relations Officer, Geoffrey Ogbonna, confirmed the incident, adding that a suspect identified as Divine Ubasinachi, the ex-wife of the deceased younger brother had been arrested for alleged complicity in the murder.
The Command spokesman said that the woman was arrested as a principal suspect in the killing, having allegedly threatened to make the Mbadi family cry before the murder took place at the bar owned by one Amarachi Chikezie .
Reports say that the deceased’s parents who are residents at number 9 Medical Drive in Njoku road off Ukaegbu road in Aba are alive, adding that the arrested suspect is in police custody as at the time of filing this report.
The police image maker added that the matter had been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (CID) for further investigation, explaining that the corpse had been removed from the crime scene and kept in an undisclosed location.
It was also reported that the murdered man s was billed to wed, having introduced his marriage plans to members of his family, friends and associates before his untimely death.
