Fayemi Tasks New Commissioners, Advisers to be Selfless in Service

By Gboyega Adeoye, Ado Ekiti

Ekiti State appears to be on a journey on the upward track as the Governor, Dr. Kayode Fayemi swore in 14 additional Commissioners and Special Assistants in Ekiti State, Tuesday with the charge to diligently serve their people and fast track the ongoing drive towards restoring the State’s value.

Fayemi at the swearing in event also urged the newly appointed Commissioners and Advisers to use their new positions to register their names as viable partners in the restoration agenda of the new government.

He emphasised that the appointees were picked for their various portfolios after a thorough and wide consultation, stressing that they were chosen because people believed in their ability to serve the state better

He however noted that his government would not hesitate to do away with any of the members of the state executive council found displaying ineptitude and engaging in corruption.

The governor posited that what the state needed at this time when it is financially challenged, is committed and visionary people, who are ready to sacrifice to make Ekiti great.

The task of rebuilding Ekiti , according to him, should be paramount to the appointees and not personal aggrandizement.

He however said that his government would be receptive to constructive criticism from members and that no one would be victimised for exercising such rights.

“You all knew the state of our state before I was inaugurated and you could attest to the fact that we have raised the bar and change the landscape for better now within these few months.
