The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria, FAAN, has put a lie to a trending video suggesting that the Murtala Mohammed International Airport (MMIA) in Lagos is under insurgents’ threat.
A phantom video clip was recently released purporting that there was a shooting at the Lagos gateway, leading to serious commotion, in the ongoing macabre attempt to hype the recent Boko Haram attack on Metele in which some Nigerian troops were killed.
Reacting in a swift release signed by the General Manager, Public Affairs of FAAN, Mrs Henrietta Yakubu, the agency cleared the air, saying that the video in question was extracted from an old simulation exercise carried out by the Nigerian Air Force in conjunction with other aviation agencies in 2016.
The two year old video which was imported to suit the prevailing security situation in the country has been causing ripples among a section of Nigerians.
However, the FAAN spokesperson has issued a warning to those behind the act to desist as she described the action as “not only malicious, wicked, embarrassing, but also sending the wrong signals to the world about the internal security of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.”
Yakubu assured the flying public to discountenance the rumour, noting that FAAN is committed to her core values of safety, security and comfort for all airport users
