Men of the EFCC Ibadan Office reportedly raided the campuses of the Olabisi Onabanjo University Thursday afternoon following tip off of clandestine activities of cybercrime boys otherwise known as Yahoo Boys.
About 34 suspects were arrested and paraded around the Awa-Ijebu area of the institution and 23 of them are students of the institution. Nine of the suspects are girls who claimed to either be girlfriends of the suspects or their neighbours.
Items found on the suspects include 300 Sim cards, 15 laptops, 50 handsets with 21 Iphones, charms of various types and six different brands of exotic cars. The market value of each of the cars is not less than N15m report say
Recall that on Wednesday the video of some female students who fought over a Yahoo boyfriend in one of the hostels went viral. It is believed that the video formed part of the tip off that attracted the EFCC to storm the “dens” of the Yahoo boys.
Some of the suspects already cooperating with the EFCC say they are Yahoo Plus. This implies that they add fetish means to the cyber crime to help grab the attention of their victims. Yahoo Plus according to the suspects also include carrying out rituals with items like ladies undies (bra and pants) and menstral pads. Investigation will commence after the completion of the arrests as some of the Yahoo boys are on the run.
