Former Director-General of the Governor Ibikunle Amosun Campaign Organisation in the 2015 elections, Chief Bode Mustapha, has urged all members of the All Progressives Congress in Ogun State to support the party’s candidate, Prince Dapo Abiodun, in the governorship election in 2019.
Mustapha made the appeal at the residence of Abiodun in Iperu, Ogun State, yesterday, during a solidarity visit of the party faithful across the 20 local governments of the state to the governorship candidate.
The National Working Committee’s electoral panel had declared Abiodun the governorship candidate of the APC, while the state executive committee of the party had also declared the Yewa consensus candidate, Adekunle Akinlade, as the winner of the governorship primary.
Mustapha observed that he was surprised Abiodun was the one that would be brave enough to liberate the party.
He stated: “Today I must thank God for the lives of all of us who believe in Prince Dapo Abiodun, because I must tell you that I never believed that our liberation could come this early.
“If I was told that it is Prince Dapo Abiodun who will bravely lead the movement for our liberation in Ogun state, I wouldn’t have believed.
“The first time he visited me then, I was not in support of any governorship candidate. I was the DG of the incumbent governor and then we had some agreement of which they reneged.
“But we must just thank God today because our most preferred candidate has emerged and as a result we must continue to pray for the candidate and as well stretch the hands of fellowship to other aggrieved members.
“We must note today that, I am not doing this because I want to contest any political position but, I am doing this so as to set the records straight for our unborn generations.”
