There are indications that the Senate President, Dr Bukola Saraki, was in Ife, Osun State today to seal a deal between the candidate of Social Democratic Party (SDP), Senator Iyiola Omisore and that of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Senator Ademola Adeleke, who was leading in the inconclusive September 22 gubernatorial election.
Ahead of Saraki, former Aviation Minister, Chief Femi Fani-Kayode had arrived in Ife where he was captured in a photograph with Adeleke and Omisore who came third in the poll.
Fani-Kayode had earlier tweeted that Omisore is his cousin and he would get him to work with Adeleke.
“We are going to end the APC reign of tyranny in the rerun on Thursday,” he stated.
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) had declared the election inconclusive and called for a rerun election on September 27.
It was learnt that ahead of Thursday’s rerun election in Osun, the PDP that scored 254, 698 votes in the election is planning to form a pact with SDP that had 128, 049 votes to face the All Progressives Congress (APC) that scored 254, 345.
According to INEC, the election was declared inconclusive because the guideline says where the margin of win between two leading candidates is not in excess of the total number of registered voters of the polling units where elections were cancelled, a candidate or a party may not be returned.
The difference between the two leading parties is 353, and the number of voters in units where elections were cancelled is 3498.
