All is now set for the for the All Progressives Congress (APC) as the party hierarchy adopted direct primary election to select its presidential candidate for the 2019 election.
This was part of the resolutions reached at the party’s National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting which held on Thursday at the APC national secretariat in Abuja, the nation’s capital.
The meeting was attended by President Muhammadu Buhari, Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, APC National Leader Bola Tinubu, APC Chairman Adams Oshiomhole and many other party chieftains including governors.
The party, however, opted to adopt indirect primaries for members contesting for other elective positions in the forthcoming elections.
This followed protest by some Governors who argued that direct primaries would not favour the party in their states.
It however asked states willing to hold direct primaries depending on their peculiarities to inform the National Working Committee (NWC) of the party.
