The Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS), Zone ‘A’ Headquarters, Ikeja Lagos, said that it has arrested two suspected fraudsters, who were parading themselves as Immigration officers.

A statement issued and signed by the Assistant Comptroller General and Zonal Coordinator, Mohammed Alhaji Alfa, gave the names of the suspects as Messrs Emeka John, age 66 and James Ezeh 53.

Alfa disclosed that they were arrested on August 20,2018 by Immigration officers at a Chinese company while attempting to defraud the company of huge sum of money using NIS forged letterhead purported to be signed by a senior Immigration officer.

The Assistant Comptroller General explained that investigation by NIS further revealed that the suspects are in the habit of going to companies to harass and extort money from expatriates employed by companies.

He stated that after a careful investigation by the services, he directed that the suspects should be handed over to the Police for further interrogation.

Alfa advised members of the public especially companies and organisations that employ the services of expatriates to be wary of such suspected fraudster as according to him they are not sent by NIS.

The activities of these fraudsters, he said is a source of serious embarrassment to the agency.
