PRESIDENT Muhammadu Buhari has been named the new Chairperson of the Economic Community for a West African States (ECOWAS).
He succeeds President Faure Gnassingbe of the Republic of Togo.
The appointment came on Tuesday evening at an extraordinary meeting of the body in Lome, Togo.
