Conductor Docked for Stealing Truck

A truck conductor, Temilola Emmanuel Ishola, 27, has been arraigned before a Magistrate court sitting in Ikeja, Lagos, for allegedly stealing a Mack-R model truck.

The suspect is an assistant to the truck driver of a Mack-R Model truck and container.

The conductor was alleged to have stolen the items from where they were stationed at the Tin-Can Island, Apapa.

The accused resides at No. 53, Oshoro Street, Ore, Ochugbo, Local government, Ondo State.

Explaining how it happened, the Police Prosecutor, Inspector Peter Nwangwu alleged that the accused and others at large conspired among themselves to steal a Mack-R model truck with registration number BDG 631 XM valued at 11 Million naira and an empty container worth one million naira being property of the managing director of Ernest Okunna Enterprises, Nigeria Limited.

He further said the two count charge bordering on stealing and conspiracy were committed on April 22, 2018 at Apapa Lagos.

Nwangwu said, “The accused was said to have stole the truck and the container at Tin-Can Apapa, Lagos without the knowledge of the truck driver.

“After he allegedly stole the truck, he drove it to Benin city in Edo State for onward disposal.”

According to the prosecutor, Temilola was arrested by a team of policemen attached to the Inspector of Police – IGP Intelligence Response Team Force Headquarters, Abuja.

“When the accused was apprehended, he was taken to the station where he made a confessional statement.”

The offence is punishable under sections 411 and 287 of the Criminal law of Lagos State, 2015.

When the charge was read to him, the accused pleaded not guilty to the charge.

The Chief Magistrates Y. Aje-Afunwa granted him bail in the sum of N1.5 million.
