Mustapha Akanbi, pioneer chairman of Independent Corrupt Practice and other related Offences Commission (ICPC), is dead.
Akanbi died in the early hours of Sunday at a private hospital in Ilorin, Kwara state.
He died at 85 after a brief illness.
Akanbi was a former president of the court of appeal and first Wakili of Ilorin.
AbdulRahman Ajidagba, a close associate of the late jurist and lNEC resident electoral commissioner for Nasarawa, confirmed the death in a text message to NAN on Sunday.
Similarly, one of the sons of the late professor of law at the University of Ilorin, Mohammad Akanbi, confirmed his death.
The GRA residence of the late jurist has begun playing host to hundreds of sympathisers who are there to pay their last respect to him.
