Fayemi Up In Arms Against Ekiti Exco

The Ajilosun Head Office of the All Progressives Congress, APC, turned to a battle ground as thugs loyal to former governor of Ekiti State and Minister of Mines and Steel Development, Kayode Fayemi, cordoned off the place and took over the secretariat.

In the melee that ensued, party exco that had reported for the day’s job ran helter-skelter for safety as the thugs, brandishing assorted weapons, descended on the secretariat with the aim of dislodging the exco to install a caretaker committee to take over the running of the party’s state affair.

Things turn awry for the Ekiti State APC following a primary election of Saturday that was truncated as a result of several shortcomings ranging from lack of coordination on the part of the committee set up to conduct the election to other sharp practices by aspirant.

Investigation revealed that Fayemi , on realising he could not have his way through the Saturday arrangement, decided to go for the state exco who had planned to stage a protest in Ado, capital. city of Ekiti State, to express their concern over the seemingly undemocratic handling of delegates in the botched primary election by the former governor.

The information of the planned protest by the exco members was said to have been leaked to the Fayemi camp by a few secretariat staff loyal to the mines and steel minister, thus culminating in the early morning over-run of the secretariat to thwart the agenda.

Meanwhile the APC party secretariat has already been taken over by one Kayode Ogunjobi, said to be heading a caretaker committee hurriedly put together this morning by the team of Fayemi to see to his purported move to upstage the political fortune of the party in the state.
