In a last minute survival drive, there are strong indications that the incumbent governor of Ekiti State, Governor Ayodele Fayose is lending his weight behind one of the All Progressives Congress, APC governorship aspirant in the Saturday primary election, Chief Segun Oni, as a measure to cover his tracks while in office.
The thaw of relationship between the ex-PDP acolytes is traceable to a deal that led to the release of major street urchins working previously for APC from prison and the discharge of APC State Chairman (Chief Awe) from murder charges by Fayose.
The deal that brought out the release of a jailed miscreat, popularly called “Solar” from prison and the discharge of party Chairman Chief Olajide Awe, over a murder charge has led to the last minute funding that have seemingly awashed Segun Oni campaign on the road to primary our source indicated.
The deal was struck between Fayose, Awe, Oye Ojo and Oni on one hand and Fayose and Chief Dipo Anisulowo on the other.
Call logs monitored by security agents indicated a frenzy of conversations among the four people.
The deal explains why Awe came out of exile and the first interview he granted the media was to abuse Dr Kayode Fayemi. This will be released soon, once there is security agents’ clearance as the Governor’s communications may be sensitive.
It’s been observed that of all the aspirants Oni has been the least critical of Fayose’s bad government. All through the campaign, no one can attribute a line of criticism of Fayose’s bad governance to Oni.
Part of the deal is for Oni to pick Oye Ojo as his running mate.
Ojo is the son in law of Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu. He is married to Folasade, the first daughter of Tinubu who is presently serving as Iyaloja of Lagos. Hence, Fayose is counting on this counter cover to ensure smooth transition as he desperately battles for survival.
Anisulowo is believed to be the conduit of the money from Fayose to Oni. It is however said it is not going directly to him but through Oye Ojo who since leaving the House of Representatives has been in business with Fayose.
What was offered to Fayose by the Oni – Oye Ojo team is not to probe the government of Fayose. See no evil and say no evil and to let him keep all that he has stolen from the State coffers.
It appears both sides are keeping the agreement as Oni has not been criticizing Fayose like other APC aspirants and the State wallet has been opened to sponsor Oni’s campaign in keeping with the arrangement.
