A lorry has crashed into a crowd of people at a Christmas market in Berlin, killing several and injuring over 50 persons
Both the Berliner Zeitung newspaper and the Berliner Morgenpost reported the truck ran into the market outside the landmark Kaiser Wilhelm Memorial Church on Monday evening.
Berlin police have confirmed at least nine deaths and over 50 injured
The incident evoked memories of an attack in France in July when Tunisian-born Mohamed Lahouaiej Bouhlel drove a 19-tonne truck along the beach front, mowing down people who had gathered to watch the fireworks on Bastille Day, killing 86 people.
There is no information yet on the driver which is believed to be on the run.
