Brazil President, Dilma Rousseff Impeached By Senate

The senate of Brazil has voted to impeach President Dilma Rousseff for manipulating of budget.

Rousseff is said to have manipulated the country’s budget to make her look good in an election year, by signing six decrees that increased — padded the 2015 federal spending in non-compliance with the annual budget law and without approval of the congress.

The vote puts an end to her party’s 13 years in power of her left-wing Workers’Party.

Ms. Rousseff has denied manipulating the budget. This is a similar case of budget padding happening at the Nigeria House of Representatives.

Sixty-one Senators voted in favour of her impeachment and 20 against, meeting the two-thirds majority needed to remove her from the presidency.

Acting President Michel Temer will serve out Ms Rousseff’s term, which ends on 1 January 2019.
