President Buhari has removed Ibe Kachikwu as Group Managing Director of the NNPC After just more than a year as the helmsman of the oil Corporation.
In Statement signed the Senior Special adviser on the media to the president, Femi Adesina. Kachikwu has now been made chairman of the Corporation and also remains as the Minister of State for Petroleum.
The new NNPC Group Managing Director is Maikanti Kacalla Baru. The President also approved the composition of the board of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC), as provided for under Section 1(2) of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation Act of 1997, as amended.
Members of the the new board is Includes Ibe Kachikwu who will serve as the chairman, while other members include Dr. Pius Akinyelure, Mallam Abba Kyari, Dr Thomas M.A John, Dr Tajudeen Umar Mallam Mohammed Lawal and Mallam Yusuf Lawal.
President Buhari urges the new board to ensure the successful delivery of the mandate of the NNPC, ” and serve the nation by upholding the public trust placed on them in managing this critical national asset.”
