The Federal Government has appointed Dr. Dakuku Adol Peterside as the Director General of the Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA).
The appointment takes effect from 10th March, 2016, was announced Thursday, by the Director (Press and Public Relations) of the Federal Ministry of Transportation, Mrs. Yetunde Sonaike.
Dr. Peterside’s appointment which took stakeholders by surprise put to end speculations that government may not confirm the appointment of one of NIMASA’s Executive Directors, Alhaji Baba Jauro , who has been in acting capacity as DG of the foremost maritime agency for months.
Recall that Peterside was the Governorship Candidate of the All Progressive Congress (APC) Party, in the April 11, 2015 Governorship election in Rivers State.
He holds a Doctorate Degree in Management Science (Organizational Behavior), from the University of Port Harcourt, MBA in Business Administration and a Bachelor Degree in Medical Laboratory Sciences (B. MLs) in Hematology from the Rivers State University of Science and Technology Rivers State.
Dr. Peterside was elected member, House of Representatives in 2011-2015 and served as Chairman House Committee on Petroleum Resources, (Downstream).
