Ministerial Screening: Amaechi, five other nominees in senate

Rotimi Amaechi, Former Governor of Rivers State, on Thursday arrived the premises of the National Assembly, around 10:30am for screening.

Amaechi arrived the Assembly alongside five other nominees of President Muhammadu Buhari who have been slated for screening today for ministerial appointments.

On the list of the order paper released for the day’s proceedings are, Amaechi (Rivers ); Heineken Lokpobri (Bayelsa ); Omoleye Daramola (Ondo ); Adewole Folorunso (Osun); Baba Shehuri Mustapha (Borno); and Ocholi James (Kogi )

Reports stated that members of the Peoples Democratic Party in the upper chamber still remained adamant to oppose the clearance of the erstwhile Rivers governor, for screening.

It was however learnt that the tension generated by the development, forced the Senate President, Bukola Saraki, to order a closed session shortly after resumption of plenary around 10:58 am.
