Hajj 2015: Saudi Authority Detains 2 Nigerian Pilgrims For Drug Trafficking

The Saudi Arabian authorities have detained two Nigerians for allegedly involving in a drug trafficking-related activities in the Arabian country.

The detainees are among the 1, 191 pilgrims from Oyo State who performed this year’s Hajj in Saudi Arabia.
Alhaji Adeleke AbdulKareem, Secretary, Oyo State Pilgrims Welfare Board, who disclosed the development on Monday in Ibadan, said the affected pilgrims were females.

AbdulKareem explained that one of them escaped while the other was still in detention.
According to him, the drug found with the pilgrims was Tramador, a contraband in Saudi Arabia, which the pilgrims had been warned against.

He also said two other pilgrims from the state died due to ill health before Arafat Day, adding that the last batch of pilgrims from the state arrived Nigeria on October 11

AbdulKareem however warned pilgrims to always comply with the rules and regulation of the Saudi authorities to avoid being arrested or tarnishing the country’s image.
