Ahead of the Bayelsa State governorship election, the All Progressives Congress (APC) family in Brass Constituency II has endorsed former overnor of the state, Chief Timipre Sylva, as it sole candidate.
In a statement issued at the weekend following a meeting of the constituency by its leaders, Hon. Abaye Ayebatonyo and Barrister Fayenengigha Jacob, said the endorsement of the former governor was based on “his past record of performance and his efforts to enviably position Bayelsa State in the change agenda of the current political dispensation.”
Sylva is an aspirant on the platform of All Progressives Congress, whose governorship primary is scheduled to hold on Tuesday in Yenagoa, and he is the leader of the party in the state.
Ayebatonyo and Jacob said, “Chief Timipre Sylva left very positive economic and political landmarks during his first term as governor of the state, which endures till today. He is a leader with extraordinary capacity to bring people together, build consensus, and build bridges across ordinarily difficult divides.
“With Sylva’s commendable mastery of the democratic game, he was able to not only bring President Muhammadu Buhari to Bayelsa, but made the president to take deep interest in the affairs of the state and the Niger Delta in general.
“We are convinced that Chief Sylva is the kind of leader Bayelsa needs at this time, and his politics is what our people need to get along and reap their due benefits from the national commonwealth.”
