Ojuelegba Accident: Police Arraign Driver

OjuelegebYesterday, the Lagos State Magistrate court sitting in Yaba has remanded in prison custody the driver of the truck which its container fell on SUV and killed all the three occupants on Septemebr 2, 2015.

The Magistrate, Mrs. Folashade Bokotu ordered the driver be remanded in the prison custody by the men of Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department of Lagos States Police Command, Panti-Yaba who has charged the driver for multiple manslaughter.

According to the prosecuting Police officer, Godwin Osuyi, the driver is accused of driving a Lagos truck number EPE 46 XK, which was loaded with cement and iron doors that killed Kamilu Umaru, 28, Abubakar Sule, 52, and Umaru Sulaiman, 46.

Other charges includesdamage of a Toyota Corolla car marked Lagos LSD 532 CN, valued at Two Million Naira(N2 million) belonging to Sumaila Marksman and another Nissan Sunny car marked Lagos SHE 750 LND, valued at N600,000 belonging to Mr. Joseph Ajayi.

In all , the accused was arraigned before the court on an 11-count charge of gross negligence and reckless disregard for human life, reckless and dangerous driving, driving in public highway without valid driver’s license, a valid MOT Test Certificate, road worthiness certificate, vehicle license and unlawful damage.
