NLCNigeria Labour Congress (NLC) has already started lobbying the National Assembly for accelerated consideration and passage of the yet-to-be negotiated new national minimum wage.

Comrade Ayuba Wabba, NLC President on Thursday in Abuja, asked Senate President Bukola Saraki to also speed up drastic reduction in the cost of governance as well as openness in legislative businesses are top on the list of NLC’s requests to the national assembly.

NLC leaders paid a courtesy call on Saraki at his office in Abuja and requested, among other things, the support of the National Assembly in passing the new minimum wage structure into law when it is finally negotiated and passed to them.

Wabba also asked the Senate President to take up and push the other requests which include reduction in cost of governance, reform of the country’s downstream petroleum sector and projects to curtail the rising unemployment in the country, adding that they represent the major desire of Nigerians from the 8th National Assembly.
