DSS Begins Search Of Sambo Dasuki’s Residence

Dasuki-SamboBy Patrick Aigbokhan

Operatives of the Department of State Security (DSS) on Thursday visited the Asokoro, Abuja residence of Col (rtd) Sambo Dasuki, former National Security Adviser, as part of moves to commence their search of the former NSA.
The operation was in connection with the secret probe into how billions of naira allocated to the war against terrorism was allegedly looted.
After some time of thorough search of Dasuki’s house, the operatives left without any trace of Dasuki being arrested by his unexpected gun-wielding visitors or not.
But security sources said it was likely that the ex-NSA would be invited subsequently for interrogation on how he administered the huge sums released for the prosecution of the anti-terror war in the North-East.
Dasuki was appointed NSA by former president Goodluck Jonathan in 2012, but was relieved of his appointment by President Muhammadu Buhari a few days ago.
The operation against Dasuki was two-pronged as a team of DSS operatives was also deployed in his family house in Sokoto.
According to the source, “The invasion of Dasuki’s residence is not unconnected with the determination of the current administration to recover all looted funds by senior officials of the past government. So, no one should read any political motives to it.”
Efforts to reach the DSS spokesperson, Marilyn Ogar for further comment was unsuccessful as she did not pick calls made to her phone.
